The Elba Butterfly is an addition to a mid century home design by Charles Goodman, located in Alexandria, Virginia (Hollin Hills). The addition takes advantage of the surround vegetation, natural daylight and dramatic shadows.

Bethesda Retreat transformed a split level into an additional 1000 sf addition plus interior renovation project. The project addressed outdated mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Elba Screen takes in the surrounding views of the neighborhood, designed in combination with a butterfly roof. The layer of screen allows the natural light to filter thru while allowing the homeowner and guests to take in the surrounding landscape.

Given a sleek modern interior, this Shed/Office unit features a get away retreat for the home owner during work hours. The ShOffice functions as home base for conference calls and business ventures. The ShOffice structure is detached from the home but is connected to the grid and is heat and cooled during the winter and simmer months.

We built a state of the art, fully LEED compliant science annex to our local state college. The walls are constructed from earth bricks that were made on sites and the greenhouse features Low-E windows.

MSTUDIO collaborated with local designers, Splendor Design Studio. Each surface contributed to the overall design of the space. Wallpaper, paint, lights, furniture, floors, ceilings, and doors. Every surface was altered to transform space into a elegant space for entertainment.
